Press bodies seek white paper on Tongam Rina shooting case
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: The members of Arunachal Press Club (APC) and Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) in a joint meeting held today at APC building asked state government to present white paper on Tongam Rina shooting incident. The APC and APUWJ gave one month time to the state government to come up with the white paper.
There is lot of discrepancy in the press statement issued by SP Capital recently in connection with the Rina shooting incident, said both APC and APUWJ. The two press bodies also expressed surprise over stoic silence maintained by state government and questioned its seriousness towards solving the shooting case. The APC and APUWJ also expressed fear that delay in solving case will give ample time to the perpetrators to tamper with the evidence.
AAPSU cautions against donation
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) appealed all sections of the society not to entertain donation in the name of AAPSU unless authorized by the president for greater interest of the state. “There seems to be gross misunderstanding between the well wishers and AAPSU. AAPSU is not the institution for petty politics. Workshop on sustainable sanitation and use of FTK
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: The Department of Public Health Engineering and Water Supply, Pasighat division conducted a workshop on sustainable sanitation and management of drinking water quality monitoring and roles of the Panchayati Raj Institutions under the chairmanship of East Siang Zilla Chairperson Y Dabi today.

Army conducts free medical camp
KHONSA, Jan 19: 1 Assam Rifles and 402 FD Hospital under aegis of Headquarter 25 Sector Assam Rifles organized a free medical camp at Khela under Tirap district.
A total of 757 patients, including 320 male, 306 female and 131 children were treated
during the day-
The patients were also provided medicines at free of cost. Various rapid laboratory tests as well as ECG were conducted.
Four doctors and medical staff of the Army and Assam Rifles under CO 402 FD Hospital, 2 Mountain Division as well as Civil doctors and staff of District Hospital, Khonsa under DMO, Khonsa conducted the camp.

AAPSU condemns Aalo incident, demands action
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has vehemently condemned the recent Aalo violence in which precious life of a student leader Goto Yudik, AGS (Protocol) Galo Students’ Union has been lost.
The broad daylight murder in one of the most civilized societies and districts reflects administration’s lackadaisical attitude towards its duty, it said.
“How did administration allow the killers roam freely with weapon inside the venue of such mega event of Galo Day celebration where the Chief Minister of the state, Member of Parliament (West), Legislators and other hosts of dignitaries were invited? AAPSU questioned. “Why did the administration not take preventive measures? Is it not the height of irresponsible attitude of the district administration? Wasn’t there any intelligence report of the chances of eventuality? Such crime reflects the weakness of the Home department and the person heading Home department should come clean on the matter or else resign from the post on moral ground, AAPSU demanded.
“We’ve lost a life of a students’ leader which is beyond reparable. The state has been witnessing series of violence, rape, murder, assault and other law and order problem since few months back”.
The West Siang Deputy Commissioner should be booked and suspended and action should also be initiated against West Siang Superintendent of Police for their inaptness in tackling law and order problem which could have been averted had they taken preventive measure, the release claimed.
The apex student body of the state demanded action against all the culprits involved in the heinous murder as well as all the erring officials.
While strictly adhering to the principle ‘justice delayed is justice denied’ AAPSU urged the authority to deliver justice to late Yudik as early as possible failing which AAPSU would be compelled to resort to democratic agitation to get justice.
Culprits must be given exemplary punishment so that such crime does not recur for peaceful existence of the indigenous people of our state, the release said.

Is the fine system acceptable in modern society?

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: New Year is a time when accident rates go up in Arunachal Pradesh leading to the loss of many valuable lives. While some accidents happen because of rash driving, the others happen due to either bad road condition or bad luck. It is observed that accident rate has increased manifold in capital complex in the last few years. Interestingly whenever any major or minor accident takes place the citizen’s panic against possible hefty fine instead of fearing law and law enforcing authority.
Few days ago in the midst of my busy schedule, I received a phone call from a relative of mine. He said over telephone, “My bike has hit one child near Chimpu and I have brought him to RK Mission hospital. Come fast now.” He hanged up phone after that.
Worried, I called him back and asked how the condition of the boy is? “It’s a minor
injury but can’t take risk, so please you come fast,” he told. Along with a friend,
I immediately rushed to RK Mission hospital and found the child in very good shape.

While we were doing our best for child’s good health, one of the relatives of child started to seek our contact numbers and said if anything happens we have to bear consequences.
The doctor who treated the child told them “there is nothing to be serious and it is just a minor bruise.” Despite doctor’s revelation about child’s good health the relatives of child were talking aggressively and trying to inflame the situation. Sensing the mood and prevailing situation I privately spoke to the mother of the child and paid her some money and that’s how the case was solved. My conscience did not allow me to pay but I did it to avoid further trouble.
There are many such instances where people had to pay fine to the tune of Rs 25 lacs for the unfortunate death caused due to the accident. Death is something inevitable and it surely hurts when we lose someone in accidental death.
But how fair it is to take fine that too huge money as replacement for someone’s death? Nobody wants to kill anyone and one has to understand that no one deliberately causes accident. It happens due to bad luck and if it is destined, it’s hard to escape from it. Also I don’t understand how the conscience of a person allows him or her to take fine for the death of his or her family member. It is like you are selling the soul of someone.
Few years ago, a younger brother of an engineer who was a family friend of ours met with an accident in Itanagar. His Pulsar bike collided with that of another person who was riding an old model Yamaha bike. Both the biker received minor injuries and partial damages to their respective bikes. Surprisingly everyone including police, Yamaha bike rider started demanding seven lac rupees as fine for the accident. His explanation was that he was going to meet an officer to get a work order and as he could not meet the officer because of accident he lost the chance to get work. He valued his work order as seven lacs and therefore demanded the same from the boy with whom the accident took place. Despite hectic negotiation by all parties, the person did not relent and threatened to kill the boy if family member fail to pay the money. Finally, family paid Rs 5 lacs fearing for life of the boy.
A section of people in Arunachal Pradesh in general and the capital complex in particular has made fine system as a source of living which is really sad. Traffic police along with various community based student unions should carry out awareness campaign against fine system. Already fine system has given bad name to the state and there is urgent need to tackle this menace.

Orgs, nursing graduates stage protest rally
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Arunachal Pradesh Youth Association (APYA) and the Arunachal Righteous Forum (ARF) along with nursing graduates of Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) from various private institutions staged a ‘protest rally’ in front Office of the Directorate of Health Services, Naharlagun yesterday.
The examination for recruitment of 32 posts of ANM was held yesterday where the candidates from private nursing institutions were rejected from appearing the examination on the ground of non affiliated institutes by the India Nursing Council (INC).
The deprived candidates claimed that INC was regularized in 2012 whereas there are
candidates who have passed out in the year 2007-
“Give us a chance to appear the examination or postpone the examination so that we can appeal our respective institutes to provide us with the certificates” said one of the protesters.
There are still many institutes providing nursing courses which are not affiliated from INC. Due to their ignorance there will be more nursing students whose certificates will be invalid in the future, another protester said.

DAPORIJO, Jan 19: Though Daporijo town is now wearing a much better look after the district administration conducted a series of cleanliness drive involving the masses and making them aware on the need of cleanliness, stray animals have now become a big problem towards administration’s endeavor to make the town clean and green.
Free movement of stray animals, including pigs and dogs in the main market areas, sectors and colonies has created lots of disturbances to the commuters and others. Stray pigs are found everywhere creating lots of problems by leaving excreta here and there making the market areas, including private residence, office, schools and other public places dirty.

here since last many years. These stray animals are also found killed in roadside

Witnessing the growing stray animal menace, public are now very much concerned over this matter and urged the authority to bring an end to this problem by initiating appropriate step. Many sane citizens suggested the owners of such stray animals to keep their livestock in confinement and also develop civic sense.
Many people in the market never use the garbage put in the roadside and throw the waste materials in the place.
Public are hoping that Daporijo will look better in the next coming days town under the initiative of DUDA Daporijo as the department has already taken several measures for beatification of the township with help of district administration, various NGOs and general public.
Since there are still miles to go to achieve the target, DUDA is now conducting a series of eviction drive against illegal shops in the road side of the market complex. Many shops constructed in the roadside illegally were evicted and quintals of vegetable were seized for violating the DUDA rules despite several notices were served to them. Those road side and footpath vendors and other illegal shops had been creating lots of problems to pedestrians and commuters.
It is pertaining to mention here that the shed for the new Daily Bazaar has already been constructed and it is ready to use. But most of the vegetable vendors and other food item sellers are still not ready to shift to the new market place despite notifications which compel the authority to carry out the eviction drive.

Poor students sufferer
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of
state government towards the on-
i) The teacher crises in the state will be minimized. ii) Poor student will not face hardship due to shortage of teachers in the schools. iii) Unemployment problem in the state will be minimized.
The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, Education Minister Bosiram Siram should solve the genuine demands of teachers.
The likeminded organization and elderly citizen of the state should raise the voice. Especially AAPSU, ANSU and other organizations of State and District Student Unions who are welfare body of student community should take up the matter.
